What is skiver?  Skiver is sheep leather.

What is Hide? Hide is cow leather.

The choice between the two usually comes down to size.

If a big area needs to be leathered e.g. board room desk, this would use many skivers, meaning there would be joins in leather, Where as with hide, it may be possible to do this with one leather, this means no joins and if being posted, a lot easier for the novice to lay and fit.

The quality of both skiver and hide we use are of the highest grade, and we pride our selves on the standard of work we carry out.

Now we begin the tooling process. This is done to the customers specification e.g, gold/blind tooling- how many tools to be used and to what design.

The skin is then antiqued and polished

The leather is then waxed and that completes the hand dyed finishing process

You can either bring the top you wish to have leathered to us, where we can complete the whole leather lining process, or if this is not convenient for you, you can send us the size in either imperial or metric (be sure to measure all round to make sure it is square), or if it is an unusual size or shape, out of square, round etc, you can send us a card template and we will post the leather to you.
